PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD AND SHOWROOM

The APCI-UK (Association of Professional Italian Chefs – UK) in collaboration with the AIS Sicily (Italian Sommelier Association, Sicily) presents the event “GUSTO ITALIA” during which will be awarded the Prize of Italian Catering in the UK, now in its third edition.

asFollowing in the footsteps of the founders, Carlo Re and Luigi Ugolini, today APCI-UK is led by Chef Carmelo Carnevale. Born with a view of aggregation and service, to be added to the professional work of Italian chefs that want to find an environment in which to recognise and share their experiences and find new ideas for growth and comparison. The primary objective of APCI-UK is to protect and enhance the real “Made in Italy” on British soil and to help young Italian chefs make their way into the British job environment. These are the ingredients of the family of the chefs of APCI-UK, which opened on 22 April 2013 at the Sheraton Park Lane in London.

AIS SICILIA

ais siciliaIt’s ‘an honour for me to represent Sicily in London. A unique area of historical and archaeological wealth, a continent made up of people with different cultures, with a diverse landscape and thousands of years’ food and wine heritage. To represent it in London with friends of APCI – UK is the result of the effort to make this heritage well known in the world. It’s been a pleasure working with APCI UK to organize: GUSTO ITALIA, a meeting created thanks to mutual esteem, both personally with the President APCI UK Carmelo Carnevale, and with the association that he represents. I think the development of the typical products and the territory it is also credit to the professionalism of sommeliers that best interpret the relationship between food and wine. The presence of AIS Sicily, wants to be a link between the excellence of Italian products, and Sicily in particular, and the complex but important and dynamic UK market that asks for this type of product. I think there are the best conditions for the success of the event and I hope this is just the beginning of a fruitful collaboration’.
